MLM Leadership Skills Part 5

To be successful in your personal life or your business, you need to become a leader. I don't mean that you have to be outgoing. You don't have to change who you are to have the confidence and ability to be a leader. It is about applying a simple 5 step process, and as you begin to apply these steps you will begin to view yourself as a leader.

1. Create a vision.

Every great leader has a vision. I call it your "WHY". It needs to be strong and important. What do you want to accomplish? Where do you want to be one year, five years from now? A good, strong "WHY" will keep you focused when the times get tough.

2. Implement a system.

Use a system consistently and effectively. Most people know that the shortest distance between Point A and Point B is a straight line. Use a system that will get you there. Show up every day and work your system. If you have a clear system that will take you from A to B you will get there a lot quicker than if you are constantly changing directions.

3. Add value.

Keep improving. If you haven't added value to yourself, you have nothing to offer. Be a student of the industry. There are plenty of self-development books out there. Read them. Soak up the information like a sponge. If you don't have extra knowledge, resources, and capabilities to get you where you are going, no one will need to join you. They will turn to someone who does have extra knowledge and information to offer.

4. Give away your value.

When you give away your value to others, you are actually increasing, not decreasing your value. When you are giving others good information and knowledge without asking for anything in return, you become more and more of a leader to those people. You will have confidence in the abundance of information, prospects and wealth around you and you will know that helping other people is really helping yourself.

5. Expecting leadership from your followers.

If your followers want to achieve true success, they will need to become leaders. Teach them how to create their own vision, and they will step up to the plate.

You are still there for them, but teach them to make their own decisions. Teach them to think like a leader. Teach them to become critical thinkers. After all, building leaders will work yourself out of a job.

For some this process just happens naturally, but if you find that you feel like a constant follower, go back to these 5 steps, and you will become a true leader.

These are my views on what it takes to be a leader. Did I miss anything? Any comments or questions will be appreciated.
